How much should I charge for a wash cycle? A dry cycle?

This really varies by area and we recommend that apartment owners / managers visit the nearest coin laundromat to see what they are charging for a similar machine and charge $0.25 more as a convenience fee because tenants dont have to leave the premises to do laundry. Generally speaking, it is common to see the following prices:

• Top load washes - $1.00 - $2.25
• Front load washes - $1.75 - $2.50
• Apartment dryers - $1.00 - $1.25 for 45 minutes of dry time.

What do I need to have in place to have washer installed? Gas Dryer? Electric dryer?

• A washer will require hot and cold water connections and a 110 electrical outlet.
• A single gas dryer for an apartment will require a ready gas line and a 110 outlet.
• A single electric dryer for an apartment will require a 220 electrical outlet.
• Any apartment dryer will also require adequate ventilation.
• Other things to consider when installing a standard apartment washer or dryer include the dimensions of the equipment to ensure adequate space for setup.

How much will water, gas, and electricity cost me if I install washer and dryer? Will I lose money?

Utility costs vary by area, once you know how much you are paying for utilities per unit you can calculate your exact expense for each washer and dryer cycle. Although purchasing a front load washer instead of a top load washer will decrease utility costs by 25% to 30%.

Are some machines eligible for a rebate from my local utility company? Which ones?

How long will the equipment last?

There is no way to predict exactly how long a washer or dryer will last. Usage levels and care vary and heavily affect the life of these machines. However it is very common to see washers and dryers in apartment common laundry rooms last well in excess of 7 – 8 years. Dryers will run twice as long as top load washers.

What is the size and capacity of a Top Load washer? Front Load Washer? Dryer?

Top load washers are designed to wash 14 lbs of dry clothes and the Horizon line of front load washers are designed to wash 18 lbs of dry clothes; matching dryers will accommodate an equivalent amount of clothing.
